'MRS Camden' new budget releases: The MRS label is re-releasing two excellent STEREO performances via their budget MRS Camden label.
They will be released 25 April 2025
1. 'Las Vegas August 1969' - single CD release features a captivating performance from Elvis’ first Las Vegas International Hotel engagement from 3rd August 1969. Bonus booklet included.
EIN reviewed the earlier MRS 3CD Deluxe set which featured this classic August 3, 1969 concert noting that.. "To hear a complete early 1969 concert with Elvis running at full-power is a revelation. There is a real sense of tension and nervousness in Elvis’ performance that just isn’t apparent in the later shows that we know. This new MRS “Stereo” version is a treat, Elvis’ vocal more up front and richer, Jerry Scheff’s pumping bass-line and James Burton on the left. It rocks. The separation on the mix reveals some fabulous interaction within the band and here you are “in the audience” with the excitement surrounding you. It sounds great."
2. 'Las Vegas – January Thru February 1970'
This 2CD set contains ‘Opening and Closing Shows’ from Elvis’ second engagement at the Las Vegas International Hotel, during January & February 1970. Bonus tracks included
Features both Elvis' Opening Show, 26th January 1970 plus Closing Show, 23 February 1970 in STEREO.
The Opening Show featured the delight of Elvis introducing a pile of new songs to his set list including 'Proud Mary', 'Don't Cry Daddy' 'Kentucky Rain' and 'Let It Be Me' while the Closing Show featured the fabulous run of 'Lawdy Miss Clawdy', 'Heartbreak Hotel', 'One Night', 'It's Now or Never', 'Suspicious Minds' 'Can't Help Falling in Love' as an intense ending to his first 1970 Las Vegas season.
