Welcome to the "Elvis Presley Omnipedia"
So whats it all about ? Well these pages will tell the story, show screenshots and give you a guided tour.
Back in 1999 I started a website for a local Elvis Presley fanclub. This included the normal Elvis stuff, life story, concert tours and basic CD releases. I lost touch with the fan club, put the website down to do other hobbies, then came back and picked it up again, this time trying to find my own web hosting.
By 2010 there was approx 2,200 pages of information. I moved into my flat in 2010 and decided to get the website up-together. I approached various websites like "ElvisonCD" and asked if I could use their info. All bar one site gave permission. It was at this time that I got the idea to hopefully sell the project as a DVD.
Fifteen years later (2025) and the site has grown to over 12,200 pages and is too big to run from a DVD, so hence the idea to burn it to a data stick instead.
The project includes offcial RCA - BMG - Sony CDs from 1984, FTD releases from 1999, Bootlegs from 1988, concert details, jumpsuit details, special releases like Camden, Pickwick, Readers Digest and other label releases. Also included is a whole host of other great information including music, concerts, adverts relating to Elvis and more.
The screenshots will show you what the project looks like, menu navigation, the detailed information for each section and other usefull information.
So you're probably asking why do you need this ? When you have the internet and the information is freely available.
A lot of the original sites that gave me permission to use their info have now vanished and potentially great information has been lost. When they gave permission I ripped their sites so I had a local copy and then incorporated it into this project. Why did we lose these sites ? One site closed because the owner passed away, and I'm assuming that the others folded because the owner(s) realised the time, work and dedication needed to maintain a website.
So whats stopping current sites from being lost ? What if you could have this info offline and anywhere ?.
Here's a thought. All the current info about Elvis is fragmented and all over the place. The press doesnt show Elvis in a good light, and if new fans google Elvis they will stumble on sites and end up (potentially) not having a good impression of Elvis. In creating this project I had to be a reporter to keep it concise and to the point, but also as an Elvis fan to know the best way to tell the story. I hope you will agree.
The bottom line is that if you think of Encyclopedia Britannica, Encarta, an Almanac, all on one subject, with a webpage front end, running from a Data Stick, and you will understand what this project aims to be.
Screenshots.
The first page is where it all starts from. There is a navigation bar across the top, which although it doesnt contain ALL the links It will lead to the DBase page 1 and DBase page 2 from which you will see a list of links. It also contains quick links to Sony, FTD, Bootlegs and the Music pages.
This screenshot is the top half of "DBase 1" page.
This screenshot is the bottom half of "DBase 1" page.
This screenshot is the top half of "DBase 2" showing sub dropdown menus for RCA/Sony by decade, and also the same for the FTD label
This screenshot is the mid section of "DBase2" page showing Special Releases, Authorised Boxsets, details of Elvis on Tour including the jumpsuits, and also the Bootleg sections.
This is the bottom part of the "DBase2" page. It has links to "Master and Sessions", and Japan release details.
The above screenshot shows the drop-down menu that we have for the sub sections. This shows the RCA-BMG-Sony CD releases by decade.
This next screenshot shows the top bar navigation. By clicking on "Dbase 2" you will come to the Database Page Two listing. But it also includes sub menu quick links, so regardless of what page you are on, if you want to return to DBase 2, or jump to Sony releases 2025 then you can do it here. Rather than navigate to Database Page 2 and having a load of sub links to click on.
The Music section of links lists what is available in the music section. We have music files, full concerts, videos of Elvis singing specific songs and much more.
Bootlegs Menu. As you can see we have listed this the same as Sony and FTD, by decade. Some of the listings contain music samples for you to hear the sound quality of the recording.
The above screenshot shows the "Boxsets, Collections and Specials" section. It also includes Flash, Hallmark, MRS, Readers Digest, Take Off, Time Life and a few you maybe havent heard of.
The next screenshot shows the Sony CD releases for 2025. This is basically the same layout for all the years. By clicking on the album cover you will jump into a page listing all the details about that release.
The above screenshot shows a pop out menu thats on the left hand side. This is another quick navigation aid. In this case it lists all the RCA-BMG-Sony release years so you can quickly jump between years. The same navigation is also with the FTD years and Bootleg years.
And now to one of the best parts. CD details page(s). As you can see here we have the "Sunset Boulevard 2025" release. The page shows the covers, CD labels, track listing, times, CD Matric number, and any other details. As you can see at the top (below the album cover) we have the EU version listed, and directly below is the USA version. The EU is the lead page in this case and its highlighted in orange. The USA listing is clickable and will take you to the USA release details page. A link on the USA page will bring you back to the EU page.
Time Life. A well known label / publisher. As you can see at the top half we have 19 Elvis CD releases. Clicking on the title of each cover will take you to a details page for that specific release. The rest of the Time Life section shows a list of other formats that were released, country and year of release as well.
The screenshot above shows the "Jumpsuit" section. It shows the years 1969 to 1977. Clicking on the year will take you to a list of jumpsuits that Elvis wore that year. You can also get details of each jumpsuit within this section.
So whats the plan ?.
Ive tried contacting Graceland on numerous occasions to obtain their permission to sell this omnipedia. I even contacted Sony Licensing department. They asked if Graceland had given consent, and as they hadnt then Sony didnt want to get involved.
I'm not out to sell this and make money for myself. The idea is to sell it and donate all proceeds to charity, or even charities if it sells well.
If this project was to sell globally and make a lot of money. Then the plan is to donate to various charities with each country, but on a local scale.
Lets say I sold a box full in my own county and also within a county in America. I would then ask the local fan club of that county to submit a list of local charities that deserve a donation.
Obviously theres the big charities like Cancer Research, Red Cross, The Elvis Presley Trauma Center, Leukemia Charity and many more. But what about Riding for the disabled which is a local charity here in West Berkshire who have sites all over the UK ?
Whats Next ?.
I intend to keep contacting Graceland untill they decide to start a conversation. Id also like some Beta testers who would like to tryout the data stick. If you would like to help then please contact me.
